If consumed enough either through our foods or supplements, vitamins can
actually help stop acne before it has a chance to emerge. Since the body is the
biggest organ of the body, it needs the kind of nutrition to work at an optimal
level, and for fighting acne from ever developing. The listed vitamins and
minerals are exceptionally noteworthy for reducing acne breakouts.

Vitamins C, E, and A Has No Effect on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention?

Confusing stories are spreading around basing from a 9 year study done on more than 8,000 people taking the antioxidants vitamin c, vitamin e and beta carotene. These stories states that these antioxidant vitamins does not prevent cardiovascular disease.

I believe that antioxidants promotes health. Preventing cardiovascular disease is just one of the many diseases which antioxidants can help prevent. It saddens me to know that stories discrediting antioxidants over pharmaceuticals are making the headlines.

Pharmaceutical drugs are made from synthetic materials and as such, it is not a 'natural' substance inside our body. I'm not saying that it's no good - many diseases have been treated with these drugs.

Antioxidants and vitamins like vitamin c, vitamin e and beta carotene - which the study focused on - can be found in fruits and vegetables meaning they are natural substances. Before the invention of drugs, people relied on fruits and vegetables for their nutrition and health needs. They utilized the natural defenses of herbs like black tea, green tea, oolong tea and herbal green tea which contain vitamin c and bioflavonoids

So why the stories on drugs over natural nutrients and antioxidants? Why confuse the public? Why the intellectual dishonesty?

Click the link below and find out.. The article clears the confusion. A must read

Unraveling the lies about the antioxidant study on vitamins E and C

A side note: Pharmaceutical drugs treats diseases which have already began. Antioxidants and vitamins however, prevents diseases from happening and even accelerating the recuperation process once the disease has began.

Antioxidants and Secondhand Smoke

Smoking cigars or cigarettes is not only bad for the health of the smoker but also for the non-smoker who is exposed to secondhand smoke.

Sources of secondhand smoke:
-Smoke from the burning end of a cigarette.
-Smoke exhaled by the smoker.

Chemicals identified in secondhand smoke:
-More than 4,000 but could reach 10,000.
-More than 50 of these are carcinogens.
-Metals that catalyze the direct oxidation of cellular proteins.

Risk of respiratory tract diseases ranks high when we are exposed to secondhand smoke.

Concentrations of NNK, a cancer causing toxin and a biomarker for exposure to secondhandsmoke, are found in non smoking employees of bar and restaurants which allow smoking. Read this article.

Exposure to secondhand smoke also depletes the vitamins in your body. Antioxidant vitamins like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin A are not spared from the harmful effect of secondhand smoke.

If you are a smoker or a non-smoker but is frequently 'surrounded' by smokers, the best you can do to maintain your health is to replenish the depleted vitamins in your body especially Vitamin C which aside from being an antioxidant is also an immune booster.

Sources for vitamins and antioxidants:
- Fruits and Vegetables
- Green Tea
