Can Oolong Tea Cure Acne?

Tea of all kinds has antioxidants that come from the polyphenols in the tea. In addition, all teas have Vitamins A, B, C, E and K, along with some amino acids which are essential proteins and have health benefits for skin, hair and cell regeneration. Oolong tea is a tea that is slightly more processed than green tea and slightly less than black tea.

While white and green tea have very little in the way of oxidation, (bruising the leaves to allow them to dry), oolong and black teas are processed for oxidation numerous times and then roasted to enrich the flavor. Oolong tea has been prized by the Chinese, and it was named for the region in the Wuyi Mountains, where it was first discovered. It has also been called Wu long tea.

When making oolong tea, it should be steeped in hot water, not boiled, to gain the most benefits. Also, the leaves of the oolong tea can be steeped multiple times and the flavor improves, while green tea leaves are weaker and usually only good for one steeping.

Because processing can reduce levels of some of the antioxidants, oolong ranks in the mid range, with green tea having higher contents of antioxidants and white tea having the most. Oolong is more oxidized and roasted to give it a darker, richer color and taste, which makes it popular for drinking, especially as an aid in weight loss and metabolism boosting.

While all teas have antioxidants that can help clear acne among other skin inflammations, green tea would have stronger concentrations than oolong tea. Oolong tea still has health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredients, just not is as high of concentrations.

Tea bags have also been used to relieve puffiness in the eye area, and as a rinse to bring out natural shine in hair. By using oolong tea as a rinse on your face, it will kill some of the toxins and bacteria that cause acne and other skin conditions, due to astringent properties in the tea. Drinking tea several times a day, whether green tea or oolong, will give you the health benefits of antioxidants, which attack the free radicals and toxins in your system, such as those that cause acne.

Can Oolong tea cure acne? It can certainly help. Since tea extracts, such as those found in oolong tea speed up the metabolism and speed up cell regeneration, it will help build healthier cells quicker, and build your immune system for protection and healing of different types of illnesses and bacteria, including those that cause acne. Oolong tea is a healthy, medicinal cure that has been used for centuries in the Chinese culture.

Oolong tea is a natural, healthy remedy that has been used for centuries in Chinese culture to cure different ailments, including skin irritations and infections. It would be a natural acne cure that has shown results in some cases, when drank several times a day, as well as topically applied.

Natural Treatment For Acne - Learn How to Balance Your Hormones

I suffered from acne during my teens and twenties. It added to the self-consciousness that I already felt. The treatment then was antibiotics - which I took everyday for two years in my teens. In my thirties I started to suffer from health difficulties like IBS and Candida, which were quite distressing at times. In order to learn how to treat myself for them, I studied holistic medicine - eventually becoming a fully qualified homeopath. During my training, I realised how taking the antibiotics for such a long period had been a cause in my later health problems - all of the good healthy bacteria my system needed to function properly had been killed off, leaving my body unable to cope. I was able to resolve my health difficulties, but I would like to help others avoid the problems I had, by offering alternatives to the antibiotic treatment still often offered.

HORMONES AND ACNE

Hormone irregularities are a major factor in the formation of acne (they are not the only cause, but a big contributor). When you are a teenager and going through puberty, your body is producing Androgens, which stimulate the body to produce more oil. This hormone is also produced during pregnancy, which is why acne is common during early pregnancy.

This increase in hormones, along with a build up of toxins and a genetic tendency to acne are the three key factors in whether you get acne or not.

WHAT CAN I DO?

The Androgens produce more oil, which can block the pores and cause inflammation. The GOOD NEWS is that there are other hormones that have anti-inflammatory properties - they reduce the inflammation.. By supplementing your body with these, you can significantly neutralise the inflammation.

If you take Evening Primrose Oil and Lecithin, Antioxidants, Zinc, Vitamin B and Omega 3, you will help your body to produce more of the anti-inflammatory hormones, and reduce the acne.

Dietary changes will also help. If you reduce the amount of wheat and milk you consume to a bare minimum, you will also help your body balance itself.

There are other things that you need to do also, in order to really give your body the best chance to clear your acne. For more ideas on natural ways to treat acne go to http://www.byebyespotty.com (this name is inspired by my experience of my doctor calling me Spotty in front of the whole waiting room as a teenager! I want to save others from the same fate.

Diet and Acne - Why Are Teens More Prone to Acne?

Teens who suffer from severe acne might be wondering why, after how many years of baby smooth skin, they're having acne breakouts, which really do nothing but make them feel miserable.

If you or your teen is having acne, just know that the cause of acne can be summed up in two points:
  • Poor nutrition, and
  • A diet rich in sugar and flour
Acne is basically "an inflammatory skin disorder", meaning the skin is inflamed or highly irritated. How does this happen? Within every hair follicle is a sebaceous gland, which produces sebum, and its purpose is to supply oil to the hair shaft and to spread out over the top of the skin, sealing in the skin's moisture so that it stays healthy and wrinkle free.

Our bodies do this process quite well as long as the sebaceous glands get enough amounts of all of the nutrients they need to produce a high quality sebum. However, at puberty the process of sexual maturation occurs. The "problem" with puberty is that the sex hormones are made from the same nutrients as sebum. And between healthy smooth skin and the perpetuation of the species, Mother Nature has designed our bodies to choose the latter.

Without adequate nutrition, the skin will produce sticky sebum that traps bacteria instead of protecting the body against them. This, in turn, offsets an internal biological warfare that leads to acne.

Nutrition And Simple Carbohydrates

Now we all know that you need to have proper nutrition in order to have healthy and radiant skin. Just how do you get proper nutrition? By eating three to five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday.

However, in a 2007 report, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated that 39.5% of Americans eat less than the recommended three to five servings of fruits and vegetables each day.

In fact, today the average American eats 622 pounds of "simple" carbohydrate foods (cola, cake, etc.) per year. Unfortunately, the average American has NOT increased his body's ability to handle simple carbohydrate foods by eating more fruits and vegetables, and drinking more water. Our bodies can break down cola and cake can into glucose in just a matter of minutes, but without adequate nutrition, our bodies cannot process them properly and will instead saturate the body's cells (saturated skin cells produce sticky sebum).

So, the first step to curing your own or your teen's acne is to change the diet. Enough of the soda and the doughnuts, no matter how sinfully good they are.

Of course, to speed up the healing of acne breakouts, your teen will need a synergistic supplementation of Vitamin A&B, Vitamin E, Niacinamide (NOT Niacin), Zinc, among others.

Diet as a Natural Treatment for Acne

Since the skin is the largest organ on the body and it assists other major organs in the human body with eliminating waste, one of the best acne treatments for some people can simply be the choice of foods they eat. If you are unhealthy inside it will be reflected in your skin.

Acne occurs when the natural oils that the skin produces gets clogged in the pores of the skin. Normally, acne is prevalent in the onset of puberty when the body starts to produce hormones, it has also been known to be a problem for women during pregnancy. Since acne is a problem for people world wide, there are many forms of treatment, products and medications on the market.

Many people claim that some simple diet changes can cure acne. When I was a teenager I had severe acne and tried using what were considered the best acne treatments at the time. Retin-A was one of the most popular prescription acne medications on the market at that time. Noxzema skin cream and Clearasil were some of the most popular acne products used among my friends and I.

I learnt the hard way that alcohol should not be used as a home remedy for acne and with severe acne cutting back on processed foods replacing them with a healthy diet including lots of fruits and vegetables.
Eating fiber-rich foods like fruit and vegetables, wholegrains and cereals help to clean out your digestive tract. One of the reasons people get acne is because their colons are dirty. Undigested processed food and mucus over the years form really toxic stuff called mucoid plaque.

If you've had for many years a diet with regular servings of some of the following: Fried food, animal food (including dairy), sugar, tea or coffee, white flower, microwaved food, hydrogenated fats and drugs such as alcohol or aspirin then, you more than likely have mucoid plaque in your body.

All sorts of nasty bacteria use these pockets of old feces as a breeding ground. One of these bugs, called candida eats sugars that it gets from your food and in return gives off really nasty chemicals in return that can cause all sorts of allergic reactions and skin conditions.

Using diet as an natural acne treatment was not as bad as I had thought it would be. There are so many foods that act naturally as a home remedy for acne and are often the best acne treatments. At first I thought that it would be easier to just remember when to use acne medication or other acne products that I was using at the time rather than to give up on junk foods.

One of the best fiber-rich foods is called psyllium. You can buy psyllium husks from your local supermarket or health food store and you can easily mix a tablespoon into a glass of water and drink it. Psyllium husks is also the main ingredient on some popular laxative drinks like Metamucil.

Not only will psyllium husks keep you "regular" but they act like a sponge by cleaning your colon at the same time.

You will have to find the best home remedies for you by simply researching on your own. If the eyes are the window to the soul then the skin is a reflection of your overall health so the beginning of a real cure starts from within.

Acne Blemishes Treatment - the Essential Vitamins and Minerals

Antioxidants are molecules that have the ability to inhibit or stop other molecules in having oxidation reactions. This can produce unstable molecules (also known as free radicals) that start cell-damaging chain reactions. They protect cells by neutralizing external forces (like damage caused by pollution, temperature, wind, and sun), as well as internal factors (such as metabolism, emotions, and too much oxygen).

Powerful antioxidants help flush out free radicals and toxins out of the body, keeping the pores from clogging toxins and healing the damaged skin tissue. Hence, antioxidants can be very helpful in treating acne blemishes, keeping the skin vibrant and healthy.

Antioxidants are abundant in fresh natural foods and are also available in the drugstores as man-made supplements.

Most people associate only eyesight with Vitamin A. However, the epithelial tissues of the skin actually also depend on the amount of Vitamin A inside the body. Vitamin A, being an antioxidant, neutralizes damaging elements in the skin, as well as reduces sebum production, thus aiding to prevent wrinkle formation, resist skin infection and keeps the skin vibrant and youthful. Deficiency in Vitamin A can in fact cause acne outbreaks. Deep orange and dark green fruits and vegetables, such as broccoli, spinach, carrots, and apricot, are rich sources of this vitamin.

Vitamin B complex is essential in maintaining healthy skin and good muscle tone, this is also vital in preventing blemishes of the skin caused by acne. Rich natural sources of Vitamin B include bananas, potatoes, tuna, and liver.

Vitamin C is an essential acid that is normally deposited in the skin and is a vital antioxidant that helps protect the skin from free radicals and harmful ultraviolet light. Vitamin C helps in the formation of normal collagen that is essential in tethering scars and filling them up until they become less visible or noticeable. Citrus fruits and juices, green peppers, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli and other leafy greens are rich sources of Vitamin C.

Vitamin E is one vital antioxidant that protects the skin cells from factors (such as pollution and ultra violet light) that produce cell-damaging free radicals. This vitamin promotes wound healing and cuts down the risk of acne scarring. Good sources of Vitamin E include sunflower seeds, peanuts, and sesame seeds.

The mineral zinc present in the body, which acts as an antioxidant, is vital for healthy skin and resistance to infection. It helps in tissue healing and scar prevention. Dairy products, yeast, beans and lentils, nuts, pumpkin seeds, and wholegrain cereals are good sources of zinc.

Chromium supplements are also found to be helpful in reducing the formation of damaging free radicals in the tissues. As it acts as an antioxidant, chromium helps reduce skin infections, preventing acne and skin blemishes.

Selenium, whose action is the same with that of Vitamin E, is another essential antioxidant useful to the human body. It also protects cells, especially those in the skin, from harmful free radicals, keeping the skin healthy and blemish free.

If you are looking for treatment for acne blemishes, consider the antioxidants, they are helpful not just in naturally improving the skin, but in keeping your overall health condition as well.

Can Antioxidants Improve Skin Care?

For most issues related to teenagers, fads rule the roost. And skin care issues are highest among teenager. Today any medium, be it magazines, newspapers, television or the Internet are inundated with skin care related articles. These articles could include various therapies and homemade solutions for skin care. Ranging from the totally natural to those which involve chemicals, these articles provide the reader with the much needed solutions to their skin related problems.

These days the latest craze in skin care regimes is natural antioxidant skin care. The belief that is being popularized these days is that the more natural the product being used the more effective and devoid of side effects it will be. This concept has a strong historical background since it is a known fact that queens and princesses of the ages gone by used natural extracts of plants like hibiscus and olive to keep their skin glowing and youthful. Over time man has processed these very elements and made them available to the common man in the form of tubes, bottles and cans containing moisturizers, creams, shampoos and anti-ageing gels. These contain the richness of the abundant health secrets hidden in the flora and fauna of the jungles. The only difference is that they are more likely to have been processed in a research laboratory and tested before being presented to you for use.

These distilled ingredients used to keep a healthy body are being called nutriceuticals. This new addition to the dictionary is made up of the words 'nutrients' and pharmaceutical'.

Most companies which make skin care related products tout the goodness of antioxidants and natural products that contain antioxidants. An antioxidant is something that destroys the harmful oxygen free radicals. These free radicals could be a product of normal functioning of the body or could be generated due to external factors like ultraviolet rays from the sun.

Though the concept of free radicals is extremely complicated to explain, suffice it to know that these radicals can be harmful and can result in mutation in genes. Mutation can lead to skin cancer and make the individual incapable of repairing the damage done to the skin. With antioxidants we can limit the number of free radicals in our system, thereby ensuring that we not only keep our skin supple and glowing but also healthy. This wonderful discovery of how antioxidants can work to negate the effect of free radicals had led to fantastic products which can help in tackling issues related to ageing skin. Problems like wrinkles, spots, pigmentation and small growths can be resolved with increasing the amount of antioxidants in your diet and oral application of antioxidant concentrates.

EFT Tapping Can Lead to Health, Wealth and Happiness

Just last week, my husband and I stopped at our local market to grab some coffee on our way down the hill to shopping. Living in the country like we do, we know most everyone and as I was waiting for him to check out, I ran into a friend. She's the kind of friend that I know I would be really good friends with, but our circles don't intersect so we rarely see each other.

We became friends when we built our house, her husband dug the septic, her son graded our road and our construction pad. That was ten years ago this year. We'd heard that the man her son worked with when grading our foundation, had recently died in a freak accident, but what she told me next, blew me away.

Her son, a 37 or 38 year old good looking and vibrant young man had an accident himself and he broke his neck. She said the doctors had told them that he would be paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his natural life. That happened six months ago.

Then she told me something funny. She said she knew that he was going to walk again. He'd been going to an acupuncturist, and then she gestured with her hands to her face and starting tapping, "and he's doing this tapping thing," she said.

"EFT!" I said excitedly, "Emotional Freedom Technique, I use it myself and have for the last four years -- I'm so very relieved to hear he is using it."
She told us to stop by the house after our shopping venture because she knew her son would be glad to see us.

We did.

He rolled out in his wheelchair under his own power. This from a man that six months ago was declared a "quad", quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck down. He broke C-6.

He then proceeded to show us that he had complete movement of his arms and his right leg.
"It's just a matter of time before I walk again," he said, "though I'll accept whatever happens."

Now some could say that it's the acupuncture that is allowing the nerves to regenerate, but I've been using EFT, the emotional freedom technique and EFT tapping for four years now and I've experienced it's miraculous results.

I think it's the EFT that he's doing that's healing his spinal cord and his nerve endings. I've used EFT for everything, anger, emotional healing, health, to calm me down, all sorts of things.

If EFT can help a paralyzed man heal, what can it do for you?

And in a few short weeks, there will be a free World Tapping Summit, the second of its kind. The first one generated over 81,000 participants and it was considered a success. It's available online, without cost, and begins February 21st. To find out more about EFT in general and the World Tapping Summit, head on over and check out EFT Tapping and the World Summit.

Meridian Tapping - A Tool For Change

Basic Acupuncture.Image via Wikipedia
Recently I came across a very interesting resource for help in eliminating pain and clearing the way for life change. Actually I first heard of Meridian Tapping or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) years ago. It is an effective method for many people who are suffering from the physical or emotional pain that prevents them from living the life they desire.

For those who have experienced acupuncture or acupressure, you will be familiar with the concept of meridians, which are the pathways through the body which in eastern medicine are believed to be the way energy travels through the body.

For practitioners of energy medicine, the approach to healing is holistic, addressing the needs of the body, mind and spirit. There is no separation as there is in western practices where you go for help with the body, mind and spirit to different specialists.

Symptoms, which are identified, then suppressed with drugs and therapies in western medicine, are seen differently by energy practitioners. To a traditional acupuncturist for instance, a symptom is an indication that you are out of balance. This is caused by a block somewhere in the meridian system.

Points along the 7 meridians or pathways are identified and either needles or finger pressure is applied to the points. The treatment removes the block, the bodymind returns to its natural balance, the symptom (which was just a signal to you) is released, energy begins to flow as it should and your health is restored.

This of course, is my rather simplistic description of something ancient, complex and mysterious. New attention is being paid to this old and venerable system of treatment. During the past 5 years or so since my initial discovery of EFT or Meridian Tapping, the movement has gained terrific momentum.

Practitioners and interested ordinary people are using it to address a wide range of issues including physical pain and illness, mental illness, emotional problems, self-defeating behaviors, addictions and manifesting desired life changes.

My "Inner Skeptic" would find it difficult to believe that one method could be effective for so many problems. But having been a happy recipient for years of acupressure and acupuncture, I knew that those experiences were healing in a holistic way. I have been referring clients to practitioners of both for years.

Meridian Tapping or EFT adds statements of belief that are affecting your health in all aspects of your life. So in other words, the cognitive and emotional elements are added. You can learn how to incorporate a practice of Meridian Tapping which will enhance your life as you achieve the goals you have set. For many people this is a powerful tool for change.

Janet Eisenbise invites you to learn more about resources for healthy living. Making use of new knowledge and products will lead you to a more balanced life. Visit here and begin to lead the life you want and deserve.
